The story begins in the past where there were 2 ancient civilizations – the Anunnaki and the Landers. They both are technologically advanced. They raised cows and used their milk as a primary resource because they found that it was the most pure and effective energy source. Both civilizations were living in peace! But in time the Anunnaki became greedy and wanted all the milk for themselves. That led to The Great War. After long and devastating battles most of the cows were killed and both civilizations were doomed to extinction.
The Landers recalled the legend about a device that could produce infinite amounts of milk. As a last resort, they sent their bravest soldier on a mission to find the legendary device and save their world. He died soon after being sent. This is where you step in – because you are chosen to find that device.
In the game you play as one of the most elite soldiers of the Landers. You take the most important mission of your life – you have to find that device and save your civilization from extinction. The first trace of the device is on Mars – with the martian civilization of Heliots.
The upper image features your kind on the left – The Landers. They are the first to discover the real power of the milk. They are a highly advanced race, that is capable of dominating the universe. But as powerful as they are, they are also very wise and kind. The will always protect the weak and help the old ones. They will not seek meaningless wars, but will always be prepared for one!
And on the right you can see The Anunnaki – ancient and powerful as the Landers, but much more self-centred. They think they are the true masters of the world. They enslave the ones they think are not worthy. They also fuel their civilization entirely on milk. But their greediness eventually led to The Great War, that led them on the verge of extinction!
So bottom line you can expect big diversity, epic and long combats, different tactics and unique skills for each cow!
We literally have hundreds of ideas that go trough a heavy prototyping phase. We gather valuable feedback and we only leave the best and most fun ones in the game. In the game you will encounter many different intelligent enemies. Each one will have its own abilities, strengths and weaknesses. You will have to apply different strategy for each one. Usually you will have more than one approach to defeat an enemy, so each player will fight in a unique style for him. Also you will sometimes re-encounter the same enemy with new set of abilities later in the game to show you that you are not the only one, who progresses. Below you can some examples of the enemies that will be in the game!
On the right you can see the Shooting Spawner Plant. The enemy spits seeds at you, and it can actually grow copies of itself if those seeds hit fertile ground. So a unique challenge is present to you here – escape this enemy spits but also do not let them fall on the ground, otherwise you will quickly find yourself battling against an entire army of Shooting Spawners!
The next enemy in our list is the Spiked Worm(currently prototype graphics). It does not have any long range attack but the thing with this guy is that he is segmented and as soon as you are in close proximity he starts chasing you with his body. He is very clingy, so you have to be really careful to not let him touch you, otherwise be prepared to be thrown around and maybe broken in nearby rocks. Also keep in mind that if you shoot or break of limbs of this guy, the broken limbs will most probably explode!
These little plants are known as Chargers. They are very calm and peaceful until something crosses their way. When that happens they will execute a quick kamikaze jump and try to eliminate the thing that dared to cross their way.
You have to be very careful with them. Gladly they are brutal but not very smart, so they will pretty much jump at anything moving in their sight. So you can easily trick them with other small objects and clear your way!
We really think that the environment itself must be interesting and challenging in its own way. And we wanted to maximize interactions between you, the environment, the cows and the enemies. With that in mind we started designing on paper according to your skills and the enemies that you will encounter. So you can expect to really need your skills while traversing the alien worlds of Moo Lander. And in the battles with enemies and cows, each of you will be able to use the environment around him to take an advantage over the other.
Also when you play the game you will go trough many different terrains. Each environment will be unique and different from all others! It will have unique flora and fauna! And unique new challenges, so every time you will have to find the correct strategies and abilities in order to be able to progress.
Now because the environment is maybe 80% of the stuff on your screen, we also had to ensure polished visuals with attention to details. So we have spend a lot (really a lot) of time looking for just the right guys to do this. Gladly we found them – on the bottom left you can see an example of the actual environment graphics, and on the right you can see an initial sketch for an environment. On top of that we will have particles and all sorts of cool visual effects. – all that combined will really intensify the visual aspect of the game and let you completely immerse in the universe of Moo Lander!
Your character will be wise but also funny. He will have an interesting backstory and will share a deep bond with his ship, which will be an amazing piece of technology, that will be able to do almost anything. During the gameplay, they will often have this interesting talks, which will reveal you much about the story of the game.
In the game you will be able to constantly unlock new tactical and combat abilities and then further upgrade them in a way that will really impact your gameplay.
Here is a list of some of the abilities you will have:
- Fly – this is the base ability, with which you start. We have spend many hours optimizing the controls, so you feel the flying really good and responsive.
- Beam – one of the most important ones, it will allow you to beam cows. Also it will be upgradable in a couple of ways.
- Shoot – your primary offensive ability – the shooting of energised particles. As they are pure energy, you will have unlimited ammo for this. Maybe further in the game you want exploding bullets, or bullets that can branch of to a few directions a little after they are fired. We won’t say anything for sure, but we guarantee some cool upgrades here!
- Power Jump – channel significant amount of ship energy trough the boosters in a one direction and you will find yourself moving very quickly for a fraction of the second. Very useful to evading quick enemies and escaping tough situations. This too will have some cool upgrades like shock waves
- Beam Carrier – now you ship can interact with the environment in a whole new way. A stone is blocking your way – just pick it up and move it. An enemy that you cannot seem to kill is blocking your exit – fire up your beam carrier and clear your way. We won’t reveal anything for the upgrades here to keep you hyped up.
